Organised by the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) in cooperation with the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), this regional workshop will showcase intermediate GEO-CRADLE pilot project results in the field of solar energy and climate change. The pilots will aim to showcase how Earth Observation enabled services can help public authorities and companies respond to local and regional challenges.
Eurisy informs regions and cities across Europe on the opportunities of satellite applications as tools to support regional social, economic and environmental policies.
Eurisy helps SMEs evaluate how operational satellite applications can support them in improving business processes, enhancing their existing products and services, or creating new ones.
Eurisy works with the space community (agencies, industry, service providers) to involve them in a dialogue about how space developments can best support users in their current societal challenges.
Eurisy’s activities are mandated and financed by its members: most European space agencies. Eurisy’s members shape space policies and influence investments in space infrastructure.

Satellite images provide information about places, spaces, as well as spatial phenomena. Satellite navigation indicates absolute location, relative movement and time. Satellite telecommunication infrastructure ensures connectivity when terrestrial connections are down or inexistent.
The applications resulting from these technological capabilities are often used together and in combination with data from a multitude of sources – whether field measurements, statistics, historical data, or even tweets – to deliver useful digital services that allow us to navigate, to make decisions, or to communicate in new ways.
EUROPEAN INVESTMENTS IN SPACE
Europe invests in satellite infrastructure through two major programmes, Galileo and Copernicus. The resulting applications are expected to bring growth, jobs, and better quality of life for Europe's citizens.
Galileo, Europe' own state-of-the-art Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), will provide accurate and guaranteed positioning for all types of civilian applications: including car navigators, mobile phones, maritime, road, rail and air transport. More on Galileo.
Copernicus, Europe's own Earth Observation system, will provide free, full and open access to a wealth of important environmental data from a variety of different sources, including satellite imagery. More on Copernicus.

This conference will feature hands-on case studies about their use in taking care of people remotely, monitor and modify factors that affect health in urban and rural areas and motivate autonomous, healthy living for longer.
Nordic Edge Expo is the largest Smart City meeting place in the Nordics. The conference covers a broad range of smart city themes and showcases both best practices and solutions addressing the urban challenges that most cities and communities are facing.
Eurisy will host a session in the conference programme on satellite applications for smart sustainable cities. The session will include speakers from European cities who have used of satellite data to make their cities and regions smarter and more sustainable. This will be supplemented with keynote presentations by Eurisy and the Norwegian Space Agency.
