The diffusion of satellite applications needs to be more user-driven

On 23 April in Brussels was held the workshop ‘Risk and environment management: the added value of satellite applications’, hosted by the Committee of the Regions, and organisedisy in cooperation with the GEONetCab, GEO Network for Capacity Building, an FP7 project consortium.

Decision-makers and professionals from end-user organisations – public administrations such as the Committee of the Regions, the Mazovia Region, the Lake Garda Community, the City of Nice, Krkonose (the Czech National Park) and the Norfolk County Council – all reaffirmed a keen interest in keeping abreast with innovation as a means to promote sustainable development. Most of them presented innovative practices in the implementation and use of satellite applications to carry out their mission – some closer to an operational stage than the others.

IAP launches its Ambassador Platform for SMEs in Brussels

The launch event of the IAP Ambassador Platform for the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (APsme) took place at the Diamant Building in Brussels on 6 March 2013. Around 80 participants (mostly SMEs from all over Europe) attended the event, which informed on this new initiative to facilitate the access of SMEs to satellite-related activities.
