Eurisy is a European non-profit organisation whose Members are most space agencies or governmental offices in charge of space affairs in Europe, and international organizations dealing with space matters. Its main mission is to facilitate the full access of Society to the benefits of satellite information and services, by:

  • raising awareness among decision-makers and final user-communities of the strategic importance of satellite technology for sustainable economic, environmental and social development policies
  • supporting emergent final user communities in their appropriation of satellite information and services
  • facilitating the dialogue between final user communities and the space community
  • providing a bottom-up feed back to its stake-holders on the challenges faced by society in its appropriation of the services
  • supporting international, interdisciplinary, inter-sectoral and inter-institutional cooperation

Eurisy achieves its objectives by implementing long-term (3-5 year) programmes focused on specific final user communities. It develops long-term partnership with the target groups and bases its actions on a good knowledge and appropriation of the user-group agenda.

It organises stand-alone events (conference and workshop cycles, ad-hoc information modules, etc.) and events embedded in those of the user communities, spreading good practices in the implementation and use of satellite services.

Based on the analysis of the experience of users, Eurisy and its partners identify organisational and economical limiting and facilitating factors for implementing operational satellite services. Those factors and models are part of the output of Eurisy programmes, which also include the production of good-practice kits for the users and bottom-up feedback to relevant institutions.

The General Assembly of Members orients and validates Eurisy’s general strategy, as proposed by the Eurisy Council. The Secretariat develops and implements programmes and projects in line with the strategy and in collaboration with its numerous partners and networks.

Eurisy is structurally financed by its Members. Programmes and projects are financed in an ad-hoc manner via contributions and sponsorship.
